Okay so yesterday I decided I gotta get that dang Sandy Shocks Paradox Magneton in my game. Saw some folks talking about it being tricky, figured I’d share my messy process. Here’s how it went down:
Getting My Stuff Together First
Right, before charging in like a Tauros, I grabbed what I thought I’d need:
- Surf TM – obviously gotta reach those islands near Area Zero entrance.
- A bunch of Ultra Balls and Timer Balls – regular Poke Balls just weren’t cutting it last time.
- A Pokemon that knows False Swipe (my trusty Breloom usually) – gotta get that health down to 1 HP for an easier catch.
- Another Pokemon good at putting things to Sleep (Gallade’s Hypnosis saved me). Status helps so much.
- Max Repels – those regular wild ‘mons are just annoying when you’re hunting.
Took me like 5 minutes running around Mesagoza buying stuff. Probably forgot something.
Actually Going to the Spot
Headed straight for Area Zero, because everyone says that’s where it is. Flew to the Zero Gate. Used Surf to paddle over to the islands on the left side. Easy enough.
Now, this part confused me at first. I knew it was underground, so I started looking for caves on the islands. Took a while! Wandered around, bumping into random Pokemon, wasting time. Used Repels finally, duh. Found a small cave entrance tucked away on the northwest island. Looked kinda plain.
Went down into the cave system. It’s Cave Biome 4, if that helps. Inside, it’s all rocky and sandy, makes sense for Sandy Shocks!
The Hunting (and Missing… a Lot)
Okay, here’s the annoying part. Didn’t see it immediately. I mean, ZERO Sandy Shocks popped up for like 10 minutes of running circles. Got real frustrated, almost gave up.
Started paying attention. Others online (not that I’d link anything!) mentioned the weather matters. My cave had bright sunshine – Sandstorm weather. Walked outside the cave entrance briefly, then popped back in… still sunny. Kept checking. Then, BOOM, sky turned yellowish inside the cave! Sandstorm weather kicked in! Suddenly, Sandy Shocks Paradox Magneton started appearing like crazy! Huge sigh of relief.
First one I saw, got excited, threw Breloom out to use False Swipe. Whiffed a couple times. Then Gallade for Hypnosis… missed! Sandy Shocks zapped my team a bit before I finally got it down to red health and asleep. Tossed an Ultra Ball… shook once… popped out. Tried again… shook twice… popped out. Ran away. Ugh. Happened again on the next one.
Finally Nabbing The Thing
Third time lucky, I guess. Got its health down super low with False Swipe (took ages, felt like forever), got the Sleep status perfectly. Instead of Ultra Ball, chucked a Timer Ball since the fight was dragging on. Shook once… twice… three times… click! YES! Caught it.
Looked at the time – ended up spending nearly 45 minutes just in that cave trying to get the weather right and then actually catching it without messing up. Patience seriously tested!
What I Figured Out (The Easy Bits Maybe?)
So, the main takeaways after sweating bullets:
- Location is key: That cave on the northwest islands near Area Zero entrance? That’s the spot.
- Weather is EVERYTHING: It only shows up reliably during Sandstorms inside Cave Biome 4. If no sandstorm, don’t bother hanging around. Walk in and out to change weather if needed.
- Status is your friend: Sleep or Paralysis makes catching way, way easier.
- Timer Balls rule late fight: If it drags on, use those. Way better success rate for me than Ultra Balls on this thing.
- False Swipe helps, but takes time: Worth the hassle though to minimize breakouts.
Definitely easier once you know the weather trick. Before that? Pure pain. Hope this helps someone skip the headaches I had!
