Alright mates, been grinding through the Underground Pass again for a new account. Absolute nightmare sometimes, but figured I’d jot down what worked this time. Save y’all some headache, maybe.
Getting Prepped
First things first, gotta gear up properly. Didn’t bother with fancy armour this run – just threw on some light leather stuff. Agility failures hurt enough without clanking around. Packed:
- A bow and like 50 bronze arrows. Way cheaper than runes if things go sideways.
- Two ropes. Trust me, don’t skimp.
- Three stamina potions. Your feet will thank you.
- A bunch of tuna and salmon because that Paladin guy gives you grief.
- The quest items – Doll, Spade, Oak Longbow. Nearly forgot the dang bow!
Banked everything else. No point risking junk. Teleport out? Forget any normal ones deep inside. Only way out early is walking back or dying. Ugh.
Plunging Into The Pit
Started from the entrance near West Ardougne. Killed the stupid monkey guarding the ladder like always. Dropped down the well – splat. First fall already. Typical.
Navigated that first maze easy enough. Dodged the traps mostly. Then hit the grid floor. Now, I hate this part. Stepped super carefully. Saw a loose tile? Nah, not falling for that again. Took it slow, listening for the creaks. One miss-click later… down a level. Crawled back up cursing. Took me four tries to get across clean. Stupid agility.
Dealing With The Bridge Stuff
Right, then you hit those bridges. Needed the rope here for the gap. Made sure I had one ready. Tried walking across that narrow beam… failed the agility check. Fell right into the chasm below. Hurt like crazy. Climbed back out, ate some fish. Tried again. Failed again! Couldn’t believe it. Third time lucky finally. My palms were sweating.
Did the whole lever puzzle next. Pulled the first one. Nothing bad happened, good sign. Pulled the second. Heard a rumble. Figured it was opening a path deeper. Skipped the third lever after that nasty fall last time. Maybe not needed? Seems okay.
The Home Stretch (and Iban)
The deeper caves are dark. Needed a light source – lantern was essential. Saw those spider webs blocking the way. Tried burning them with a tinderbox. Took a few tries to light properly. Then bam, giant spider jumps out! Shot it quick with the bow. Panic fired half my arrows.
Finally made it to Iban’s temple place. Looked creepy. Had to destroy the Doll on the altar. Just right-clicked and smashed it. Felt good. Heard Iban screaming somewhere far off. Success!
Didn’t fight him this time – that’s another day’s headache. Got out using that well near the entrance again. Popped up tired but relieved outside West Ardougne.
Final Thoughts
This run took me over an hour, mostly thanks to the grid floor and that stupid beam. Should’ve brought more food. Stamina pots were lifesavers running back after falls. Seriously, bring extras if your agility sucks like mine.
Biggest time-savers?
- Stamina pots. Worth every coin.
- Light source ready. Don’t fumble in the dark.
- Spare rope. Don’t be that guy stuck backtracking.
- Patience on the grid. Rushing means falling.
