My First Run At Andariel
Alright, so yesterday I decided it was time to finally tackle the Act 1 Boss in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Andariel. People kept saying she’s tough for newbies. My sorceress was level 18, feeling kinda squishy. I marched into her poison-filled chamber, ready to smack her down. Big mistake.
I ran straight at her, throwing Fireballs like crazy. Felt good for about 2 seconds. Then wham! Her poison aura hit me hard, my health dropped faster than a stone in water. Chugged health potions like they were soda. Panicked! Tried to teleport away, got cornered by her nasty adds. Kicked the bucket. Right there in her nasty lair. Game over screen laughing at me. Felt dumb.
Okay, New Plan Needed
After that embarrassing wipe, I figured I better look stuff up. Needed something easy, not complicated guides full of weird terms. Here’s what I actually did next:
- Grabbed every antidote potion I could find in Tristram and the Rogue Encampment. Drank them BEFORE going in! Gotta boost that poison resist.
- Cleared the whole dang room first. Seriously, spent 10 minutes killing every single lesser demon and archer in her pit. No adds messing me up this time.
- Stocked up on Thawing Potions too. Heard her cold attacks sting. Drank these for the cold resist boost.
- Bought a mercenary. Got that cheap Rogue archer from Kashya. Figured she could shoot while I ran.
The Rematch
Walked back in feeling slightly less dumb. Chugged antidotes and thawing potions outside her door. Poison resist felt decent. Ran in, immediately ran CIRCLES around her like a maniac. Didn’t stand still! While I ran like headless chicken, my merc shot arrows. I chucked Firebolts when I could, focusing ONLY on Andy. Ignored everything else.
Saw my health dip? Teleported FAR away to a safe corner, gulped potions like mad. Ran back in. Rinse. Repeat. Took ages! Felt like forever just running and chucking the occasional fire spell. But hey, it worked! Finally saw her health bar hit zero. She dropped some junk, but who cares? Beating her without dying felt awesome! Proof is in the pudding, as my gramps says. Or in this case, proof is in her dead, smoldering body.
Stupid Farming & Annoying Bosses
So after that win, I got cocky. Thought, “Let’s farm her for loot!” Hah! Bad idea. Did about 20 runs. Got maybe one lousy unique amulet. Rest was pure garbage blues and yellows. Waste of time! The drop rates… ugh.
And let’s talk Duriel. That Act 2 sandworm bug thing. Holy cheap shots, Batman! Teleports onto you WHILE you’re loading into his stupid tomb! Insta-hit, huge damage, AND slows you down? Feels broken! My Merc died before the screen even finished loading once. Gave up, went back to killing normal monsters for XP. Bosses like this ain’t worth the headache half the time. Why they gotta design ’em like that? Seems lazy.
