Alright so yesterday I’m grinding herbs in Diablo 4 feeling super annoyed. My bag was empty way too quick, right? Felt like I spent more time running around looking for plants than actually killing stuff. Painful, man. Some spot near Kyovashad wasn’t cutting it at all. Barely any plants. Seriously frustrating.
Getting Seriously Fed Up
Started looking into it proper. “Best herb farming location” – yeah, typed that into Google after my tenth lap finding nothing. Big shocker? Most guides felt kinda… outdated? Or just plain wrong for where the game is now. Kept hearing about some place called the Dry Steppes. “Way better density,” folks said. I’m thinking hell no, that zone’s usually a death trap full of crap trying to murder you.
Actually Going There (& Surviving!)
Grabbed my tankiest Necro build because screw dying constantly. Teleported to Ked Bardu. Figured I’d head north-east first, see what all the fuss was about in this Rahgoj Blade nonsense area. Maps online showed a kinda central loop past the village ruins.
Right away, shocker: Plants EVERYWHERE. Seriously. Big patches of Gallowvine and Fiend Roses just popping up constantly. Like they were actually growing! Not those sad two or three you usually see.
My First 20 Minutes:
- Cleared the outer path loop quickly. Mobs weren’t too bad honestly.
- Started noticing Blightclaw mushrooms near the swampy edges. Huh.
- Found a massive patch of like 10 herbs clustered together near a fallen tree. Almost choked on my drink.
The “Wait, What?!” Trick I Stumbled On
Okay, here’s the weird bit. After my first loop, stuff wasn’t respawning right away. Ugh, of course. Was about to bail thinking it was overhyped. Had to quickly hand in a dungeon quest I’d finished nearby. Ported out to town, sorted my stash, dumped junk. Figured I’d give it one more shot before logging.
Portaled BACK to the same spot. And BOOM. All the herbs I just picked? Fully grown again. Like, instantly? Seems switching zones or maybe just zoning out/in triggers some janky mechanic. Plants weren’t gone for 20 minutes, they were back after 2 minutes tops. Insane. Started doing this deliberately: Harvest full loop -> Port to Ked Bardu & back -> Harvest same loop AGAIN.
Got greedy once. Loop still had stragglers. Portaled back and forth too fast. Some plants hadn’t respawned yet. Little buggy but still 80% of them reappeared instantly. Solid win.
What Actually Worked For Me
Final Farm Run (After Practice):
- Location Locked: Dry Steppes, Rahgoj Blade / Ruins area.
- Mount Use: Mount UP as soon as you zone back in. Zoom between patches.
- The Zoning Trick: Full harvest -> Port to nearby town (Ked Bardu) -> Immediately port back -> Instant respawns. Maybe wait 15 seconds if paranoid.
- Ignore Single Plants: Focus ONLY on the big clusters. Three plus? Worth it. One sitting alone? Waste of time.
Took me a couple tries to nail the timing. Died like 7 times testing different speed-run paths because screw the wolves and bandits there. Just pain everywhere. But once I stuck to the central loop and abused the zoning, filled my herbs in under an hour. Stuff I needed for potions? Overflowing. Actually had to use some because… you know… all the dying!
Hope this helps some of you wasting time like I was. Tried it. Failed it. Finally beat it. Dry Steppes is your friend, just remember the zone trick! Brutal zone though.
