Dropped their weapons, started babbling like drunk kobolds at a tea party. Couldn’t attack, couldn’t move right. Bought me three whole rounds to slap healing potions around and reposition. Absolutely saved my bacon.
Why Bother With A Little Egg?
After that, I started testing this weirdo thing everywhere. Here’s why it stuck in my kit:
- Cheap Chaos: Doesn’t cost a spell slot, just an action. Found these eggs sold by random vendors for pennies. Way cheaper than most scrolls.
- Stuns Without Saving Throws Early: Against low-level chumps? That cloud just works, no dice roll. Great for swarming goblins or bandits.
- Screws Up Enemy AI: Bigger enemies still save sometimes, but even then, they act dumb afterwards. Seen an ogre waste its turn trying to lick its own foot.
- Zero Friendly Fire: Seriously, tossed it right onto Karlach’s head once mid-fight. She just giggled and kept swinging. Perfect when your party’s mixed up in a brawl.
But There’s A Catch
Don’t get it twisted – it ain’t perfect. Against bosses or high-level stuff? Forget it. Like tossing confetti at a dragon. Saved my skin early, but by Act 3, I mostly used it to mess with annoying merchants or distract guards during heists. Felt like a dirty trick, honestly.
So, Why Use It?
Bottom line? It’s dumb, cheap, and weirdly clutch when you’re broke, low on magic, or just need five seconds to unfk your positioning. Feels like cheating, but hey – Tav’s gotta survive. Found three more since that first gnoll fight. Still chuck ’em when things get hairy. Because sometimes? You just need a stupid pink egg.
