Okay so here’s the thing about that Megazord skin drop in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4. I saw the hype, thought “Hey, looks cool,” and just grabbed it with my hard-earned V-Bucks. Big mech suit, Power Rangers vibes, what could go wrong? Right? Boy, was I wrong.
Jumped In Blind
Logged in the second the shop updated. Saw Megazord. Didn’t even check anything else. Just clicked that purchase button so fast. Figured it’d be like those bulky superhero skins, maybe a little clunky but visually awesome. Spent the V-Bucks. Zero research. Typical.
First match dropped in Mega City. Felt… off.
The Walk Test
Tried walking around the map. Man, that thing is huge. Like, way bigger than I thought looking at the shop preview. Trying to navigate tight spots? Forget about it. You become a walking billboard saying “SHOOT ME! FREE ELIM!”. Seriously, sneaking became a joke.
Building Blues
Thought maybe building would feel better. Pulled out my blueprint. Started throwing up walls. Felt like I was tripping over myself. The animations for swinging the pickaxe, pulling out the build gun – everything felt slow and exaggerated. Like moving through syrup wearing a refrigerator box. Getting into a quick build fight? Yeah, good luck. Felt like a lumbering giant trying to build a dollhouse.
Firefight Fiasco
Okay, finally got shot at near Brutal Bastion. Time to fight back. ADSed. Whoa. The ADS view felt claustrophobic. The shoulders of the mech suit blocked half the screen. Trying to track someone jumping around me? Impossible. Plus, that giant helmet? It feels like it messes with the hitbox. Like, shots that looked like they should miss… ping… hit. Or maybe it was just the size making me an easier target. Felt like I was playing on hard mode.
The Stare Down
Tried emoting near my squad. Cool, the morphin time emote is there. Looks awesome… for about 2 seconds. Then it just felt kinda… static? Like, yeah it’s the Megazord pose, but is it really worth the hassle? Standing next to my buddy rocking a smaller skin… I felt ridiculous. Like a parade float wandered into a paintball arena.
Realization Hits Harder Than a Smg
So after a bunch of frustrating matches where I constantly felt slow, big, and like a magnet for bullets… I finally get it. Why choose Megazord? Honestly? Unless you just absolutely need that Power Rangers fix in your Fortnite life, probably don’t waste your V-Bucks like I did. It’s purely for the look. And the look comes with a massive gameplay tax. You feel every inch of that mech suit, and it’s not a good feeling when someone with a slick ninja skin is bouncing around your head spraying bullets.
This skin is a trophy. A really big, really shiny trophy that screams “LOOK AT ME!” while also screaming “ELIMINATE ME FIRST!”. Fun for flexing? Maybe one game. Competitive? Absolutely not. Regret purchase? Massively. Should’ve stuck with my usual pick. Lesson painfully learned: Fortnite Shop previews lie by omission. Size matters.
