So yesterday I figured I’d finally tackle that Diamond Quest mode in MLB The Show 25. Heard it was tough, but damn, I wasn’t ready for that grind at first.
Getting Smacked Around Early
Jumped right in feeling confident, ya know? Picked my usual squad and bam – first three games, got absolutely demolished. Pitchers were painting corners I didn’t even know existed, and my timing? Forget about it. Felt like swinging a wet noodle. Kept chasing high fastballs and whiffing on curveballs in the dirt. My plate discipline was garbage.
Switching Up The Approach
Okay, needed a new plan. Started focusing way more on pitching. Seriously, pitch selection became everything.
- Started pounding the low zone. High heat only as a surprise, maybe once or twice an at-bat.
- Mixed speeds like crazy. Throw a fastball, then a changeup looking exactly like it? Hitters looked foolish swinging way early.
- Used analog pitching instead of meter. Gave me better control, felt more locked in.
On offense, I went full zen mode. Stopped swinging at anything remotely outside the zone early in counts. Literally just watched pitches sail by. Forced a TON of walks this way, especially against players eager to pitch.
Finding The Easy Wins (Seriously!)
Here’s the big thing that changed everything: stealing bases. Sounds basic, right? But I wasn’t doing it smart.
- Timing the pitcher became key. Watched their windup like a hawk. The second that leg kicked up? Go time.
- Only used speedy guys on 1st. Forget power hitters trying to swipe bags. If they had less than 80 speed? Sat their butt down.
- Picked my spots. Didn’t steal every time. Did it early in innings, or when the pitcher looked predictable.
Getting that runner on second instantly changed the game. Groundouts moved him over, a simple single scored him. Manufactured runs without needing a homer. Felt so much easier!
Grinding It Out Smoothly
Combined the pitching focus, the patient batting, and the smart stealing? Game changed. Started winning games consistently without needing to sweat every single pitch.
Yeah, it still takes time to rack up enough points for the Diamond tier rewards. But it’s way less frustrating when you’re actually winning games you should win. Feels doable now instead of impossible.
If you’re stuck grinding Diamond Quest, seriously, try slowing everything down at the plate and get aggressive (but smart!) on the bases. Simple stuff, but man did it make a difference for me.
