Alright, folks, got another build experiment to dump on ya today. Been slamming my head against those high-tier dungeons for weeks, felt like I was just throwing wet noodles at bricks. Needed something heavy. Saw this “Touch of Death” build floating around, heard whispers it melts bosses. Skeptical? Yeah, always. But desperate times…
Started From the Bottom (Literally)
First things first, gotta get the gear right? Scrounged around my stash, had some decent pieces collecting dust. Found this two-handed mace with decent stats – it wasn’t perfect, but good enough to start.
Checked the skill tree next. Core of this thing is maximizing that Overpower damage, right? Respec cost me a pretty penny, felt painful scrapping my old setup.
- Maxed out the core skill they recommended.
- Pumped points into the passive that fuels Overpower.
- Grabbed the big defensive shouts – gotta survive to smash.
- Took the ultimate that makes you a walking earthquake.
Looked alright on paper. Threw on some legendary aspects that boosted Overpower chance and damage. Had one that triggered something nasty after spending Fury, that sounded spicy. Gemmed for pure damage and armor, figured go big or go home.
The Ugly First Steps
Took this franken-build into a tier 40 dungeon. Felt… weird. My attacks felt slow, clunky. Regular mobs? Yeah, they died quick. Elites? Oh boy.
First elite pack: Ran in shouting, swinging my massive mace. Boom! Big yellow numbers! One dude popped instantly. Felt amazing! Then… nothing. The others just stared at me. Fury gone. Defenses dropped. Got my butt kicked back to the graveyard. Felt like a total fraud.
Okay, problem. The build relies on massive, infrequent Overpower slams, not sustained DPS. Standing still trying to whack stuff? Bad plan. Need mobility, need control. Knew I had to change my playstyle completely.
Adjusting on the Fly (Mostly Dying)
Next few runs were… messy. Learned quick:
- Patience. Can’t just faceroll everything. Gather the mobs. Let ’em swarm.
- Positioning is KING. Wait for the pack to bunch up. Get that sweet spot where my mace hits the most skulls.
- Shout Timing. Popped my defensive shouts before diving in, not after the first punch. Made a world of difference surviving the initial aggro.
- The Fury Trap. Seriously, that aspect where spending all Fury triggers extra damage? Golden. But hitting right after I’ve dumped everything? Perfection. Screwed that up a lot.
- Ultimate = Panic Button. Saved the earthquake skill for elite packs or terrifying mob density. Used it too early once or twice, total waste.
Still died plenty. Bosses were particularly rough until I learned their patterns well enough to time my Overpower slams for maximum hurt.
The Sweet Sound of Shattering Elites
Finally started getting the rhythm. Pushed into tier 50+.
The moment it clicked: Cornered a massive pack of elites and trash mobs. Shouts activated. Stepped in. One giant overhead smash. BOOM. Entire screen lit up with yellow crits. Everything shattered. Just dust and loot. Laughed out loud like a maniac.
Bosses went from nightmares to punching bags. Stomp around dodging their mechanics, build up my Overpower stacks, wait for the right opening… ONE huge swing later? Boss health bar chunks down like half its life. Brutal. Satisfying.
Current Verdict? It ain’t fast, it ain’t elegant. It’s slow, it’s deliberate, it demands you play like a tactical wrecking ball. But if you get the timing down, learn the patience? Man, it feels unstoppable in those tight, nasty high-tier dungeons. Didn’t dominate instantly, had to fight for it, but totally worth the pain.
