Heard some guys hyping up Speaker’s Sight for Crucible kills, so I dusted off my old raid pulse rifle yesterday. Wanted to see if this thing could actually shred in PvP like everyone claimed. Grabbed my controller, fired up Destiny 2, and jumped straight into Control.
The Messy First Matches
Sprinted into Midtown like a headless chicken, aiming down sights with Speaker’s Sight like it was a sniper rifle. Got demolished by shotgun apes every single time. Felt like throwing bricks at tanks – zero damage. Realized I kept forgetting to proc Exhumation perk after respawns. Also kept eating grenades because I wasn’t using the enhanced radar at all. Got tea-bagged by a Titan shoulder-charging me into next week. Not great.
Adjusting The Setup
Swapped mods after that disaster. Slapped on two Targeting Adjusters for sticky aim and added Icarus Grip so I wouldn’t whiff jumps. Changed my exotic armor to Ophidian Aspect for quicker ADS. Watched some old clips of streamers using this gun and noticed they were always near cover. Tried crouch-walking corners instead of sprinting like before.
Finding The Rhythm
Next match on Endless Vale went different. Camped heavy ammo spawn near B flag, waited for radar pings. Saw three red slices closing in, backed behind a pillar. Let them push, popped Exhumation right as they rounded the corner. The extra range kicked in – melted two with headshots before they could lift their shotguns. Third guy panicked and jumped, but vertical recoil control felt smooth. Shredded him mid-air. Got my first “We Ran Out of Medals” ever with this gun.
Key things that clicked:
- Pre-proc Exhumation BEFORE engagements when you respawn
- Strafe behind cover instead of hardscoping lanes
- Let fools push you – this ain’t an aggressive play gun
- Vertical recoil pattern helps for aerial fights
Still lost some 1v1s against meta Hand Cannons up close, but man, when Speaker’s Sight gets rolling? Felt like cheating. Ended the session with a 2.8 KD. Might main this in Trials next weekend.
