Alright so earlier this week I was totally stuck trying to connect to Bestcam TV for checking this security feed from my folks’ place back home. Kept getting some weird geoblocked message every single time. Pissed me off, you know? Like seriously, I just wanted to see if my package got delivered safely.
So I Went Hunting For Something Else
Figured there had to be other things like Bestcam TV out there, right? Popped open Google feeling kinda annoyed. Just typed in “bestcam alternatives” feeling hopeless honestly. Eh, tons of websites giving suggestions popped up.
Made myself a quick little list in a crappy notebook:
- Competitor A: Looked real shiny on their page
- Competitor B: Kept seeing ads for these guys everywhere
- Competitor C: Somebody mentioned this in an old forum
- Competitor D: Some free thing, sounded too good maybe?
Downloading Stuff Like Crazy
Okay, started clicking download buttons like crazy. Competitor A took ages to install, felt bulky straight away. Launched it finally and boom – straight away wanting cash. Monthly subscription just to see one simple camera feed? Nah. Uninstalled that fast.
Tried Competitor B next. Their signup was… complicated. Like, ten different forms telling them my life story. Got logged in eventually. Went to add my folks’ camera details. The interface? Pure chaos. Buttons everywhere, confusing mess. Clicked around for ten minutes feeling stupid, couldn’t even find where to put the damn IP address. Shut it down. Too much work.
Competitor C time. Download was quick at least. Opened it up. Looked super basic, old-fashioned even. Typed in the camera info. It worked! Okay, cool… for exactly five minutes. Then it froze solid. Whole screen just locked up. Had to force quit the thing. Tried twice more, same crash. Useless.
Last Shot: Competitor D (Free!)
Honestly felt beat by now. Tried Competitor D, the free one. Didn’t expect much. Download and install took maybe a minute? Setup took like three clicks – crazy simple. Entered the camera address and bam. Picture popped right up instantly. Clear picture too! Worked perfect. Checked my package sitting safe and sound.
But Hold On… Reality Check
Got excited for a sec. Free and working? Sweet! Decided to poke around its settings later. Couldn’t find… well, much of anything to change. Basically zero control. Tried adding a second camera feed from my shed. Error message. Wouldn’t accept it at all. Oh, and the real kicker? Left it running on my desktop for a few hours. Came back and noticed my laptop fan going nuts. Task Manager showed this thing guzzling RAM like crazy. My laptop felt hot enough to cook an egg on it.
Where Does That Leave Bestcam?
So yeah. Compared all these supposed “competitors” to Bestcam TV after actually messing around with them all day.
- Competitor A: Wanted cash immediately. Felt heavy.
- Competitor C: Worked briefly then crashed constantly. Broken.
Competitor B: Like navigating a maze blindfolded. Awful.
Competitor D: Free magic? Nope. Super basic, ate resources, handles one camera poorly.
Looking at my sad little notebook scribbles afterward? Makes you realize Bestcam TV actually does its job properly. Yeah, their geoblocking sucked for me that one time, but the alternatives? One wanted cash upfront, one felt like rocket science, one broke every five minutes, and the free one… well, free usually means “not actually useful for anything real.” Guess I’ll just figure out Bestcam’s geo junk next time.
