BG3 hide helmet options(how to keep gear stats but hide look)

So today I was messing around in Baldur’s Gate 3, right? Got some sweet gear for my squad, but man… those helmets. Seriously ugly. Made my cool elf look like a potato sack warrior. Ruined my screenshots too.

Looking for a Fix

Obviously, wanted those sweet stat boosts from the gear. Taking the helmet off just wasn’t an option – fights get nasty out there! Started digging around online. Typed stuff like “hide helmet BG3” into search. Found a bunch of people saying the same thing: “You gotta use mods!” or “Just unequip it!” Not helpful at all.

Seriously thought about looking into mods for a second. Went browsing the mod sites… wow. So many files, so much reading. Felt like homework. Didn’t wanna mess with game files, risk crashes, or deal with updates breaking everything. Seemed way too messy. Almost gave up.

Okay, Turns Out It’s STUPID Simple

Later, kinda by accident, I was swapping my paladin’s gear. Clicked on the helmet slot to change it… that’s when I saw it.

Right there in the equipment window, near the helmet icon?

  • Looked kinda like a little picture frame with a slash through it or something.

IT WAS A CHECKBOX. Labeled something stupidly obvious like “Show Helmet”. My jaw kinda dropped.

Click.

Poof. Helmet visuals gone. Just… gone.

Checked my stats screen immediately. All those armor bonuses, the resistances, the special effects? Still there! Completely unchanged. The game just wasn’t showing the ugly bucket on my head anymore. Mind blown.

Doing It For Everyone

So I clicked on my other characters:

  • Went to Inventory screen.
  • Clicked directly on the helmet slot for each character – Gale, Shadowheart, Astarion.
  • For every single one, found that magic checkbox under the helmet icon in the slot window.
  • Unchecked it. Done.

That easy. Took maybe 15 seconds per character.

Why Bother? The Payoff

My party finally looks GOOD. Can see their faces, their hairstyles, the little scars I picked during character creation. Feels way more immersive. And every single stat point from those helmets is still doing its job in the background. Best of both worlds.

Feels kinda silly now, spending ages looking for mods and workarounds when the freaking solution was one checkbox away the whole time. Classic case of overcomplicating things. Game devs actually gave us an option! Now my screenshots won’t be embarrassing anymore. Phew.
