Okay so I finally tried that Witch Doctor build everyone says is easy for new players. Looked up some stuff and just jumped in. Took my level 70 Witch Doctor with random gear and figured I’d test this out step by step.
The Skills I Picked
First I went straight to skills menu. Changed my left click to Poison Dart with Blowdart rune – pew pew, easy shooting. Right click became Haunt with Poison Spirit rune to spread damage. Slot 1 I picked Spirit Walk with Jaunt rune for escaping messes – super important when you screw up. Slot 2 grabbed Soul Harvest with Languish rune to steal power from mobs. Slot 3 used Gargantuan with Restless Giant rune for my big stupid meat shield. Last slot took Piranhas with Zombie Piranhas rune – just throw fish everywhere for damage boost.
Passives and Gear Stuff
Passives were boring but necessary: Spirit Vessel for cheating death, Creeping Death so my DoTs last forever, Swampland Attunement for toughness, and Pierce the Veil for more damage. Gearwise I just crafted whatever yellow junk had +poison damage or intelligence. Didn’t even have full set – just some random rares with gems tossed in. Prioritized weapon with high damage number over anything fancy.
Actual Gameplay
Ran Torment V rifts first. Strategy was braindead:
- Spam Haunt on every enemy pack
- Throw Piranhas on elites
- Let Gargantuan tank hits
- Shoot darts at anything still moving
Died couple times when Spirit Walk was on cooldown. Learned quick: always save Spirit Walk for oh-shit moments. Soul Harvest I kept forgetting to use but when I did – damage actually felt better. Cleared entire rift without reading skill descriptions again. Proof it really is that simple.
Results and Thoughts
After two hours my Witch Doctor was actually surviving. Damage output felt surprisingly okay considering my garbage gear. Key takeaway: This build lets you ignore complicated rotations. Just apply DoTs, summon pets, run around like headless chicken when things get scary. Won’t push high grifts without better items but perfect for farming low torment when you just wanna chill. Gargantuan kept dying against rift guardians though… guess I need that Tall Man’s Finger ring everyone talks about next.
