I recently found this Ignis Rune thing while digging through my stash looking for junk to sell. Decided to slap it onto my sorcerer’s gear because, hey, more fire damage sounds cool right? Wanted to see if it actually does what it says. Here’s exactly what I did.
Gear Swap & Baseline Test
First, I cleared a basic dungeon without the rune equipped. Didn’t tweak anything – just ran straight in and whacked monsters with my fireball spam. Noticed my usual damage numbers floating around:
- Standard trash mobs: 15K crits
- Elites: Roughly 8K per hit
- Boss chunk: Took about 20 seconds to melt
Honestly felt kinda sluggish. My thumbs were sore. Wrote this all down like a nerd.
Slapping on the Ignis Rune
Went back to town, shoved that fiery Ignis Rune onto my amulet socket. Didn’t change skills or other gear. Ran back to the exact same dungeon – same path, same monster types. Spammed fireballs again. Saw these numbers pop up:
- Trash mobs: 19K+ crits
- Elites: Solid 11K per smack
- Boss melted in like… 12 seconds flat?
Whoa. Okay, definitely hitting harder. Felt way smoother too, less button mashing.
Why It Actually Works
Got curious why it boosted things so much. Dug into the tooltip deeper. Realized Ignis doesn’t just add a tiny flat damage bump. Nah, it’s sneaky:
- It amps existing fire damage bonuses already on your gear/skills
- Like, if you got +20% fire damage on your pants? Ignis makes that more effective
- Also seems to make burning damage stack faster
Basically, it’s taking stuff your build already does and cranking it up. Not just tacking on extra damage.
Final Thoughts
So, is Ignis worth the socket? 100% yes if you’re running fire skills. Dumb easy to slot in, zero effort. Makes monsters evaporate quicker. Boss fights feel less like a chore.
But remember: it only boosts fire. If you’re an ice or lightning build? Completely useless. Wasted socket. Saw someone in my clan trying it on their frost sorc… felt bad for them.
Anyway, solid rune. Simple but effective. Go throw it on and burn stuff faster.
