So I wanted to level my Necromancer quickly in Diablo 4 this season. Kept hearing summoner builds are braindead easy for leveling. Went digging through build guides and community chatter to find top options. Saw three popular setups floating around: full skeleton crew, golem tanker, and bone spirit nuker.
Started testing yesterday by respecing at level 35. First threw points into skeleton warriors and mages. Grabbed the Hewed Flesh perk for extra corpses. Spammed corpse explosion constantly while minions tanked. Cleared dungeons pretty fast but got wrecked by AoE bosses – my dudes evaporated like sugar in hot coffee.
Second attempt:
Reset skills and tried golem-only version. Maxed Iron Golem with taunt ability. Slapped on sacrifice perks for buffs instead of skeletons. Big mistake. Single golem couldn’t hold aggro against mob packs. Kited like crazy just to survive. Took twice as long to clear same dungeons. Quit halfway through Malnok tunnel run.
Third time’s the charm?
Mashed both approaches together today. Core setup:
- Skeleton reapers with cold mages
- Golem as meat shield
- Corpse tendrils for crowd control
- Bone storm ultimate for “oh shit” moments
Died twice fighting Butcher but finally made him dance like puppet. Realized:
- Minions need constant corpse snacks
- Sacrifice builds ain’t worth it for leveling
- Cold mages freezing everything carries harder than warriors
Finally hit level 50 after messing with paragon boards. Currently running modified skelly-golem hybrid. Key gear pieces suck but build holds up. Moral? Pure summoner works but ya gotta babysit those bony idiots constantly. Switched to bone spear for nightmare dungeons though – summons become glass cannons later.
