Diablo Callaway 3 Wood Review | Does it Fix Your Slice Like They Say?

Saw this Diablo Callaway 3 Wood advertised everywhere talking big about fixing slices. Honestly? I was pretty damn doubtful. Every other “slice fixer” club I ever bought just ended up collecting dust in my garage. But heck, my slice is so bad sometimes my ball might end up playing with the geese on the next fairway over. Figured, what’s the harm in one more try?

So Here’s How It Went Down

Grabbed the club at Golf Mart last Tuesday. Thing feels lighter than my usual stick right out of the wrapper. That bright red head? Looks fast just sitting there. Setup my tee time for first thing Saturday morning, itching to see if this thing could actually do anything useful.

Got to the range early. Stuck my usual 3 wood down next to the Diablo for comparison. First few swings with my old faithful? Predictable. Some okay shots, mostly that ugly right-hand curve I know too well. You know that feeling when you swing and just know it’s going sideways? That.

Took a deep breath. Pulled out the Diablo. First swing felt… weird. Lighter, quicker off the face. But guess what? Ball still sailed right. Felt a bit defeated, not gonna lie. Thought, “Here we go again, another hundred bucks wasted.”

But I kept swinging it. Forced myself to trust the clubhead. Focused on nothing fancy, just a smooth, easy takeaway. Maybe three or four shots later… POW. Different sound off the clubface. Looked up… and the thing just flew STRAIGHT. Like, arrow-straight. Didn’t even recognize my own ball flight! Hit a few more. Some still had a tiny fade, but that monster slice? Where the heck did it go?

So what’s the trick? Honestly? I think it’s a couple things:

  • That dang head is crazy light. Makes it easier to get through the swing without needing herculean strength, helps me keep everything moving together instead of hacking at it.
  • The face feels like it just sits super square. Feels like it kinda guides your swing to come through straighter. Hard to explain. You need to feel it.
  • Hella forgiving when I completely butcher one, which happens more than I care to admit. Doesn’t vanish completely off the planet like my old club would.

Don’t get me wrong, I ain’t magically shooting pro scores now. It didn’t magically fix my garbage swing technique – I still gotta put in the work for that. But here’s the takeaway: my slice ain’t controlling me anymore. It knocked it down from “embarrassing disaster” to maybe just a little bit off target.

So does it “fix” your slice like they say? Nah. Nothing fixes a slice except less sucky technique. But did it help me actually start hitting straighter shots right away? Hell yeah it did. Enough to finally see what a straight flight looks like coming off my club. And that feeling? Priceless. Enough for me to keep it in the bag and ditch my old trusty slice-maker for good.
