Okay so last weekend I got stuck on this dumb siege level in DragonQuest Tactics for like three hours straight. Kept running outta troops while those trash mobs just kept coming. Almost threw my phone at the wall. Then I remembered this old trick people talked about back when I played Fire Emblem Heroes ages ago. Figured I’d test it live on stream.
Started fresh on a new account cause I didn’t wanna wreck my main save. First thing I did? Screwed up my economy completely on purpose. Seriously. Blew all my gold upgrading garbage siege weapons I didn’t need. Why? Because the dumber your fortress looks, the dumber the enemy AI acts. This stupid game doesn’t tell you that.
Here’s exactly what went down:
The Train Wreck Setup
1. Spent all iron reserves building useless mini catapults instead of archer towers
2. Didn’t touch my barracks upgrade at all
3. Left stone walls at level one – total cardboard defense
4. Put all leftover resources into ONE cannon hidden at the very back
Looked like a toddler designed my base. Hit start siege button holding my breath…
The Glorious Mess
Enemy troops poured in like ants on sugar. Smashed through my paper walls in seconds. My trash catapults exploded after like two hits. But then? The cannon. Oh man that lonely cannon started blasting everything while enemy units got stuck chasing random farmers around burned buildings. They completely ignored the big gun! Watched that cannon wipe wave after wave until clock ran out. First time clearing that stage with ONE star. Ugly but it worked.
Tried it four more times with different garbage layouts:
- All traps at front gate (useless)
- Max farms inside walls (got trampled)
- Only built moats (filled instantly)
The consistent winner? That stupid back cannon while everything else burns. AI sees no threat from your weak defenses, gets distracted chasing peasants, while the one actual damage dealer cleans up. Feels stupid but hey – it got me past that brick wall stage.
