Okay guys, so yesterday my nephew kept bugging me to play some hoops on my old rig. Fired up NBA 2K15 Reloaded, crapped out immediately saying it needed Update 2. Typical stuff. Thought hey, might as well fix this and show y’all how it went down.
First thing? Googled around for hours like an idiot. Kept landing on sketchy sites wanting my credit card or making me do surveys. Felt like running circles at the gym. Remembered an old forum thread mentioning the exact update name, but links were dead. Total waste of time honestly.
Finally stumbled on this no-nonsense forum post. Dude just said “check the usual repo places” in the comments. Didn’t spell it out, but veterans know that language. Went straight to a spot I bookmarked years ago for game fixes. Searched “NBA 2K15 Reloaded Update 2” there and bam! Found a small file, like 200MB zipped.
The Download Mess
Hit download and my antivirus immediately had a meltdown. Windows Defender started screaming bloody murder. Did three things:
- Turned off Defender real quick just for this transfer
- Checked file hash against forum comments to confirm it’s legit
- Held my breath clicking “keep anyway” when Chrome blocked it twice
Felt shady as hell, but the hash matched so I rolled with it.
Unzipped the files into the game’s root folder when done. Got three options:
- Just copy-paste everything
- Use their batch file installer
- Manual drag-and-drop
Went with copy-pasting because their .bat file looked like it might overwrite my saves. Copied all folders right into the NBA 2K15 directory.
The Moment of Truth
Double-clicked the game icon… nothing happened. Cue panic mode. Restarted the PC, still nada. Finally realized Reloaded versions need you to run as administrator after updates. Right-clicked, selected “Run as admin,” and man… the startup screen popped like magic. Best part? Didn’t lose my nephew’s crappy custom player he made in 2014.
Took about 90 minutes total mostly because of paranoid safety checks. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re stubborn as a mule like me. Game runs smoother now though – worth the headache for some vintage LeBron dunks!
