So I been chasing this Chains of Honor runeword in Diablo 2 forever, right? Heard it’s insane for paladins. Today I finally crafted the damn thing after weeks of pain. Here’s how it went down.
The Crazy Rune Hunt Begins
First, you need Ber and Mal runes. Simple? Ha! Spent days running Lower Kurast like a madman. Opened every stinking chest & popped every log. Got piles of Ort, Tal, even a couple Ists – but no Ber. Screamed at my monitor twice.
My farming routine sucked:
- Cleared Hell Cows for 8 hours straight using my Hammerdin – dropped a Pul. Thrilling.
- Tried Ancient Tunnels. Got a Gul rune & some trash unique boots. Cold.
- Joined Baal runs hoping for drops. Some jerk sorc stole a Tal armor off the ground. Almost threw my mouse.
That Magic Moment (Sort Of)
Was about to quit when it happened. Random Fallen in Chaos Sanctuary dropped a BER. I froze. Stared for 5 seconds like an idiot. Couldn’t even screenshot fast enough. Mal rune? Had one stashed ages ago – felt like cheating.
Grabbed a 3os Archon Plate I’d hoarded earlier. Socketed Dol-Um-Ber-Ist. Hands were sweating like crazy. Clicked it…
BOOM. Chains of Honor glowed on screen. +2 skills, 65% resist all, 20% damage to mana – beauty in a chestpiece. Tested it against Mephisto. Dude melted while I barely lost health. Felt like a god for 10 seconds.
Total cost? My sanity, 3 weeks of sleep, and roughly 47 hours of cow genocide. Worth it? Ask me tomorrow. Right now I’m wearing it to bed.
