Man, that Keening Spirit boss in Diablo 4 had me stumped for HOURS. Seriously, I walked into that nasty little swamp dungeon feeling pretty confident with my level 70 Rogue, thinking it would be just another bump in the road. Boy, was I wrong.
Getting My Butt Kicked… Repeatedly
First try? Total disaster. I dodged some nasty AOE pools easily enough, felt good. Then BAM! That big blue skull telegraph it throws down? Yeah, my dumb self thought I could just dodge through it. Wrong answer. One-shot. Dead before I even blinked. Okay, learn the mechanics, right?
Second try went a bit longer. Resisted the urge to dodge into the big blue thing, focused on stepping out of the little shadow pools it spawns. Got it down to maybe 50% health. Feeling cocky, I got greedy trying to land a few extra hits. Next thing I know, the thing splits into like, three or four shadow clones all swinging at once. Dodged one, rolled right into another. Squished again. Absolute chaos.
Maybe… ten tries in? Lost count honestly. The clone phase kept wrecking me. I’d use my Smoke Grenade to break line of sight, pop Shadow Imbuement for some burst, but those clones move FAST and hit HARD. One unlucky stutter step and I was dead meat. My stash was getting lighter from all the repair gold I burned through.
Finally Clicking: The Stun Lock Strategy
I took a breather. Scratched my head. Looked up how other people were doing it (shh, don’t tell anyone!). Saw a little mention somewhere about STUN. Lightbulb moment! My build was all about poison and shadow, kinda forgot about my basic Crowd Control stuff.
Here’s what finally worked:
- Prep: Made sure my Twisting Blades setup was optimized for single target. Ditched a minor movement skill slot.
- Core Change: Swapped in the Concealment skill with the stun upgrade on break. Didn’t just use it to escape, used it to ENGAGE the clones.
- Priority Shift: Instantly stopped any damage I was doing the second it split.
Phase One was easy peasy now – dodge the blue skull (step OUT, not through!), watch feet for pools, keep pressure on. Got the rhythm down.
Phase Two starts? Split time! Instead of panicking or trying to damage them all, I hit Concealment immediately upon the split. Ran up to the closest clone, popped out… BAM! Stunned it solid for like 3 seconds. Whaled on it with Twisting Blades. Popped Smoke Grenade if others got close, focused ONLY the stunned one. Melted it before it recovered. Instantly went back into Concealment, ran to the next clone, stun, BURST, melt, repeat. The stun interrupt completely breaks the clones’ offensive momentum. Got down to maybe one clone left the first time I nailed this, then easy cleanup.
Feeling: Man, the relief when that last clone vanished and the boss itself reappeared, already at like 10% health… Poured everything I had left into it. Took the final hit, dodged one last desperate AOE… Victory!
Sweet loot explosion followed. Got a legit nice helmet out of it. Took a screenshot of the loot on the swamp floor, felt like I really earned it. Stun on Concealment was the MVP, zero doubt.
Any questions fire away.
