Alright folks, let me tell you about my morning chasing down that damn Cloak of Protection in Baldur’s Gate 3. Heard it was great for early defense and just knew I needed it for my squishy wizard. People online kept yelling “GET IT FAST!”, so I figured, how hard could it be? Ha! Famous last words.
Planning Phase: Where to Look?
First thing I did was fire up my laptop and tried remembering where people said it hung out. My brain felt fuzzy. Right! Druid Grove! Specifically, that grumpy Tiefling kid, right? Mol’s gang?
- Goal: Find Mol’s hideout stash in the Druid Grove.
- Problem: Kid was being stubborn, wouldn’t talk to me properly. Kept asking about the thieves’ guild thing, which I hadn’t done yet.
- Attempt 1: Tried sweet-talking Mol. Nada. She just brushed me off like yesterday’s crumbs.
- Attempt 2: Thought, maybe I can just sneak in? Found the damn hideout entrance behind the big statue – that locked stone door near where Doni hangs out.
- Problem: Lockpick attempts failed miserably. My rogue companion rolled absolute garbage. Twice! Almost got caught by the patrolling kid.
Getting Frustrated: Why So Hard?
Okay, feeling annoyed now. “Fast” my foot. Went back online, scratching my head. Oh… wait a minute. Apparently, helping Mol with something usually gets you access? Or… finding her stash outside the hideout? Yeah, seems I skipped a step.
Turned around, walked back towards the entrance of the Grove, near where Arka stands looking sad. Remembered people mentioning the coast.
- Lightbulb Moment: Stash is near the water, just off the main path before you hit the grove entrance! Not inside the locked hideout at all.
Finding the Damn Stash:
Okay, walked south from the grove entrance area, hugging the left cliffside, looking towards the water.
- Spotted it! Near the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea – a little mound of rocks pushed together, almost looked natural.
- Perception Check: Thank god my Tav has okay wisdom! Noticed the rocks looked piled intentionally. Passed the check!
- Interaction: A highlight popped up. Clicked on it. “Sturdy Chest” or something similar.
- Lockpick Time: Got my rogue to do the honors. A much easier lock this time. Took one try!
The Moment of Truth:
Opened the chest. It was full of random stuff – some gold, a healing potion, a scroll… and right there at the bottom:
- Yes! The Cloak of Protection. Looks simple, dark fabric.
- Equipped Immediately: Slammed that baby onto my wizard’s back. +1 to AC and Saving Throws? Don’t mind if I do! That ‘Fast’ claim finally felt slightly true. Took like an hour of wandering like an idiot, though.
Final Tip:
Seriously, don’t bother messing with Mol or that hideout door lock early on unless you have great charisma or lockpicking. That stash by the water on the coast? Way easier. Just walk south from the grove entrance, left side cliffs, look for some piled rocks near the edge. Check near the water! Saves a ton of hassle.
