Okay, so yesterday I really wanted that Chain of Honor runeword for my Paladin in Diablo 2. Everyone says it’s awesome for hell difficulty, right? But man, runes like Ber and Ist? Those ain’t exactly dropping like candy. Here’s exactly how I went after it:
Starting Point: My Crappy Gear
First thing – my gear sucked. I was struggling in Act 2 hell with some basic rare stuff. Farming Mephisto felt slow, maybe one decent rune every 50 runs if I got lucky. That wasn’t gonna cut it.
Switching Up My Farming Spots
I ditched Mephisto completely after reading online. Switched to two places:
- Lower Kurast super chest runs: Gotta be player 7 or 8 for best drops, so I did solo games since I play offline. Teleported around like a madman looking for those campfires with two huts. Popped every chest, rack, log – anything clickable near the huts.
- Ancient Tunnels: When chest runs got boring, I’d hit this spot in Act 2. Monsters there can drop anything, no lightning immunes messing up my hammerdin. Slow but steady.
The Grind (& Some Dumb Luck)
Did Lower Kurast for hours. I mean, hundreds of runs. Got a Mal rune pretty early – nice! But Ber? No damn way. Then suddenly, clearing trash mobs near a hut in LK, a freaking Ber drops! I almost alt-f4’d thinking it was a dream. Took maybe 4 hours total.
Finishing Touches & Crafting
Still needed Ist, Dol, and the base armor. Found a plain 3-socket Dusk Shroud doing Ancient Tunnels – good enough. Dol rune came from a random nightmare countess run when I got bored. Ist? Finally dropped on my 20th Lower Kurast run the next morning. Slapped everything into the armor. Done!
What Actually Worked:
- Spamming Lower Kurast chests non-stop on high player setting.
- Swapping to Ancient Tunnels to break monotony.
- Don’t ignore trash mobs – my Ber dropped from a normal enemy!
- Offline mode for controlling player count.
Total time? About 6 hours spread over two days. Totally worth it – this thing melts demons now. Just gotta hate yourself enough to run in circles clicking chests!
