So I needed some quick runs through that nasty Pit in Diablo 4. My gear wasn’t cutting it, and grinding felt slower than a slug in molasses. Heard you could get “carried” through it, fast loot, sweet XP. Sounded awesome. Figured I’d find someone offering the service. Easy, right? Oh boy, was I wrong.
Getting Started (and Screwed)
Hopped into a popular Diablo forum. Saw tons of posts screaming “Fast Runs!”, “Cheap Gold Price!”, “Instant!”. Picked one guy with decent rep. Messaged him. He said “Yeah yeah, 3 runs for X gold, super fast. Pay half now, half after.” Seemed fair. Sent him the first half gold.
Yeah, that was dumb. He took my gold, invited me to party. Started the run… then booted me after maybe 5 minutes, before we even finished the first Pit run. Blocked me. Poof. My gold, gone. First attempt, total rip-off.
Trying Again, Still Nervous
Alright, lesson learned. Don’t pay upfront like that. Went back to the forum. Scrolled slower this time. Ignored the super cheap “too good to be true” guys. Focused on posts with actual chat history screenshots showing successful carries. Found another dude. Asked him: “How many runs? How much per run? When do I pay?”
He said: “1 run = 1 price. Pay after each run inside the pit, right when we enter.” Sounded way safer. We party up. Do one run. I trade him the gold while we’re standing in the Pit at the start. Smooth. He didn’t whine. Did another run. Paid again. Got my loot. Okay, better!
But… his times? Man, were they slow. Like, pulling teeth slow. Felt like ages. Got the loot, but it wasted so much time. Still, progress. I wasn’t scammed outright.
Finding the Sweet Spot (Kinda)
Right. So payment inside the run after starting seems safer. But how to avoid the slowpokes? Checked Discords dedicated to D4 trading/carries. Saw groups advertising. Avoided the ones claiming “Lightning Speed!” with zero proof.
Instead, I looked for:
- Specific Times: Guys saying stuff like “Pit Run ~6 min avg”.
- Multiple People: Services where it wasn’t just one dude, but a team. Felt less likely one scammer could wreck it.
- Clear Rules: “Pay Per Run AFTER Start” plastered everywhere on their Discord or forum post.
- Busy Channels: Places where people were constantly saying “LF Pit Carry” and carriers were saying “LFG”. Shows it’s active.
Found a group like this. Joined their Discord. Messaged an admin. Got assigned a runner. He linked his Twitch stream (not like a big stream, just literally showing the runs). Made sense – proof he could do it.
We partied. Key move: Got in the Pit, started the timer, THEN I traded him the gold right there. Did 4 runs. Fast. Like, actually fast. Each one around 5-6 minutes. Boom. Loot explosion. Done.
Stuff I Learned (The Hard Way)
- NEVER, EVER pay upfront. Half now, half later? Just no. That first half? Kiss it goodbye.
- Pay INSIDE THE PIT AFTER ACTIVATING THE RUN. Seriously. If they make you pay while still in town? Sketchy. Paying inside the active run itself? Much safer.
- Ignore “Cheapest! Fastest!” claims. They’re usually lying. Look for specifics, look for proof like times mentioned or casual streams.
- Communities & Groups > Lone Wolves. Easier to complain if things go south with a group.
- Slow runners waste your time as much as scammers waste your gold. Ask about expected run times before paying. Avoid those 5-minute-wish guys who take 15.
- If it feels wrong, it probably is. Trust the gut. Walk away.
Got my runs eventually without losing gold again. Still felt a bit like walking through a minefield wearing flip-flops, but hey, it worked. Mostly common sense, but easy to miss when you just wanna get that damn gear.
