My Simple Dayz Crossplay Nightmare Starts
So, I got super excited playing Simple Dayz yesterday, found some sweet loot, and yelled at Tom over Discord. He’s on Xbox. I’m glued to my PC. “Bro, join me quick, I got a damn military tent!” Dead silence. Then he hits me with, “How? I don’t see you online, dumbass.” Right. Crossplay. Totally forgot. Cue the facepalm.
Grabbing My Gear (Figuring Out the Basics)
I figured it couldn’t be rocket science, right? Hopped outta the game first. Needed both of us ready to roll.
- Step 1: Made damn sure Tom and I were actually looking at the same lobby name. One time, he was on “Europe#2” while I was chilling on “US-East#3”. Total chaos. Pick ONE server, guys.
- Step 2: Checked my Simple Dayz settings. Buried deep in “Network” options, there’s this tiny toggle called Crossplay Enable. Flicked that ON. Tom did the same grumbling on his Xbox settings somewhere.
- Step 3: We both hit Play around the same time, praying to the gaming gods. Waited for that damn matchmaking.
The Actual “Add Friend” Tango
Okay, we both finally spawned in the same crappy rainy forest. Still couldn’t see each other! Had to actually “friend” in-game.
- Step 4: Smashed the ESC key real hard. Saw the menu pop up.
- Step 5: Scrolled like a madman to the Social tab. My buddy list looked emptier than my fridge.
- Step 6: Spotted the big Add Friend button. Clicked that thing like my life depended on it.
- Step 7: Now came the annoying part. Had to type Tom’s EXACT Simple Dayz username. Misspelled “xxToxicSlayerxx” the first two tries. My bad. Punched it in super slow on the third try.
- Step 8: Hit that shiny Send Invite button. Held my breath.
Mission (Barely) Accomplished
Watched Tom’s username pop up in my friend list after what felt like a year. Saw the little icon go from gray to green! Jammed Join Friend, and boom! We were finally standing next to each other in-game. Dude immediately ran off and got swarmed by zombies. Teamwork at its finest. Worth the headache? Maybe. Got the tent set up at least.
