How to upgrade bg3 seething fury? (Simple methods to make it stronger in battle.)

Alright folks, today was all about Seething Fury – that illithid power in BG3. Heard it could get nasty strong, but man, mine just wasn’t cutting it in tough fights. Felt like shouting at goblins instead of actually helping. Decided to roll up my sleeves and figure this out.

First Thing: Actually Reading the Damn Tooltip (Duh)

Okay, I admit, I kinda just slapped Seething Fury on Shadowheart and yelled “hit things!” earlier. Didn’t work great. So, sat down and read what it actually says: the effect scales with your Tadpole Count. More brain worms equals more angry! Makes sense, kinda gross, but makes sense.

Step One: Gobbling up More Parasites

Yeah, that meant hunting down every single piece of parasite goo I could find or get rewarded. Had to be way more aggressive about actually using the Astral-Touched Tadpoles. Even Shadowheart was looking at me funny every time I shoved another slimy thing into my character’s brain. But hey, needed that power.

  • Cleared out areas more thoroughly for hidden ones.
  • Chose dialogue options promising more power with the creepy illithid folks.
  • Just straight-up bought some when I found ’em.

Every single one felt like progress. Saw the number tick up after a few sessions of dedicated parasite hunting.

Testing in Battle Like a Mad Scientist

Got my tadpole count nice and plump (ugh). Time to try it in a scrap. Found a gnoll pack near Rivington for some target practice.

  • Sent Shadowheart into the middle and triggered Seething Fury.
  • Immediately noticed the difference. Her weapons looked angrier, hit harder.
  • Had her take a few hits on purpose. Triggered the damage boost on reaction – that extra punch when she retaliates? Yeah, much nicer. Gnolls dropped faster.

But it wasn’t just “click and win.” Timing mattered. Triggered it too early once, wasted the rage.

Making the Fury Last (Because It Doesn’t)

Annoying part? Seething Fury runs out after a bit. So I focused on things that make her hit FAST and HARD during that angry window.

  • Pre-buff with spells like Bless – hitting more means getting hit less, which means more retaliation procs.
  • Slapped on gear that gave boosts to Attack Rolls. Found gloves that helped.
  • Used potions of Speed right before popping Fury. Extra attacks? Yes please! More chances to whack someone, more chances to get smacked and whack back harder.

Basically, concentrated firepower into that short Seething Fury time. Squeezed every bit of oomph out.

Unexpected Combo: Getting Hit = More Good

Here’s the kicker I stumbled on. Things that make enemies WANT to hit Shadowheart when she’s Fury-ing actually help. Sounds weird, right?

Used spells like Sanctuary? Not good. No one attacks her, no retribution damage.
Used spells like Divine Favor? Good! Enemies see her glowing holy light and maybe smack her more. She gets hit, she smacks back harder thanks to Fury.
Even positioning mattered. Put her where enemies could easily reach her (with armor/hp to survive!) so they actually took the bait.

Bottom Line: Fed the Brain Worm

It boiled down to:
Gather Tadpoles Like Candy -> Time the Rage Right -> Boost Her Hitting Power -> Make Enemies Want to Poke the Angry Beehive.

Is Seething Fury suddenly an instant-win button? No. But finally felt like that power actually justified the freaky brain worms. Shadowheart became a much scarier blender during combat. Those gnolls can vouch… well, they would if they weren’t dead.
