Improve Spell Save with BG3 Cloak of the Weave Simple Tricks

Alright so this started when I was messing around with my Wizard Tav trying not to die every two seconds against those nasty boss fights. Kept seeing “SAVE SUCCESSFUL” pop up over enemies whenever I fired off my best spells – pure rage fuel, ya know? Looked through my gear and figured, hey that Cloak of the Weave sitting in my stash might actually do something.

First thing I did? Stuck it on Gale instead. Felt kinda dumb wasting a good cloak on my Tav when Gale’s the one chucking fireballs most fights. Took him to those annoying Githyanki patrols near the bridge – you know the ones, always making your spells look useless. Popped his signature Fireball and… bam! More of those creeps actually burned than usual. Got that sweet “SAVE FAILED” text a couple times. Felt good.

But I needed more proof, right? Headed back to camp and got crafty:

  • Saved right before that nasty fight with Lump the Enlightened and his ogre buddies.
  • Made Gale wear his normal gear first, blasted the ogres with Hold Person.
  • Reloaded right back.
  • Stuck the Cloak on Gale this time, tried Hold Person again.

Saw it plain as day. Without the cloak? Lump grinned right through it. With the cloak? Sucker froze solid for a round. Did this dance maybe five times? Yeah, felt a bit weird reloading constantly like some kinda save scum weirdo, but hey, for science!

Kept testing all over:

  • Tried it on Shadowheart later for Inflict Wounds.
  • Used it on those slippery Phase Spiders in the Whispering Depths.
  • Even gave it a shot against bosses like Grym.

Turns out the cloak’s boost isn’t massive – maybe throws off enemies 1 in 10 times compared to without it? But man, when that Hypnotic Pattern actually sticks because of it? Makes a huge mess in the fight suddenly way easier. Feels sneaky good on your main spellcaster, especially if you got it sitting around doing nothing. Found a new permanent spot on Gale. Boom.
