Is Velothi Ur-Mages Amulet worth it? Know its true value and uses today!

So I Finally Tested That Velothi Amulet Everyone’s Buzzing About

Okay, heard the hype about this Velothi Ur-Mage’s Amulet forever. “Secret treasure for mages!” “Best thing ever!” Blah blah. Figured I should actually see if it’s hot air or not. Grabbed my notebook, booted up the game, and dug in.

Step one: Actually finding the darn thing. Right off the bat, gotta hunt down those Void Salts. Not exactly lying around like sweetrolls. Spent way longer than I wanted crawling through creepy ashland spots nobody visits. Picked mushrooms, dodged cliff racers, the usual slog. Felt like hiking in mud for hours.

Finally got enough. Crafted it myself. Menu time, waiting for the progress bar… boom. Heavy-looking amulet landed in my hands. Felt solid, yeah, but does shiny mean useful? Let’s see.

Took it out for a serious spin. Slapped it on my battlemage dude and charged into some nasty daedra ruins, the kind where stuff tries to roast you alive. Here’s what my scribbles say happened:

Is Velothi Ur-Mages Amulet worth it? Know its true value and uses today!

  • Magic resist? Yes, definitely noticed. Fireballs that used to crisp my robe just kinda… fizzled out. Felt pretty good not being a walking campfire for once.
  • Magicka recovery boost? Nope. Drained my juice blasting fools, checked, and the blue bar crawled back same old slow speed. Total bummer.
  • Spell damage? Swung my trusty firebolt around. Goblin took the same crispy number hits to drop as before. So zilch extra punch.
  • Weird side effect? When my health got crazy low once, suddenly my magicka DID spike back up a bit. Never saw that coming! Barely saved my bacon.

Honestly? First reaction was pure disappointment. Expected some god-tier artifact. Got… okay magic armor, a dead magicka boost, and a panic button for when you’re nearly dead? Doesn’t scream “must-have” trophy.

Left thinking “waste of good Void Salts.” But then…

Gave it one more shot on a different build. Rolled a new guy later, pure spellsword type – whacking things but needs magicka to boost the whacks. Got him beat up on purpose. That little low-health magicka kick saved him. Over and over. Got me thinking.

So here’s the REAL skinny:

  • If you’re a glass cannon mage hiding in the back? Skip it. You need magicka regen way more than this.
  • If you’re a tanky sort wading into melee, maybe using spells for buffs or bursts? Suddenly interesting. That extra magicka when you’re hurt could mean casting a life-saving heal or shield.
  • Pure magic resist item? Solid, but easier options exist. Don’t suffer the Void Salt grind just for that.

The Bottom Line I learned the hard way? It ain’t some magic bullet for every wizard. Calling it “amazing” is hype. But for that bruiser-mage who gets hit a lot and needs magicka ONLY in desperate moments? Yeah, then it pays off. Won’t craft it on every run, but I’ll keep it in mind for that one specific build type. Saved me from scrapping it entirely!
