Okay, so I decided I wanted that shiny Platinum trophy for Diablo 3. Looked at the list, thought “yeah, I’ve played this game forever, how hard can it be?” Oh boy, was I dumb.
Jumping In Blind
Started like any moron would – booted up my max-level Demon Hunter and just started doing random crap. Killed bosses, ran some rifts, collected loot. Couple achievements popped up. Felt good. Thought, “this’ll be done in a week.”
Hitting The Wall
Then I checked the list proper. Saw “Bounty Hunter” – gotta complete like 500 bounties across all Acts. No way around it, just pure grinding. And that “Lone Survivor” thing? Beat a Nephalem Rift on high difficulty with no gear equipped. Tried it naked with my Barbarian. Died in ten seconds. Called the game some bad names.
Annoying Stuff That Slowed Me Down:
- Finding treasure goblins in specific zones for the “Goblin Party” achievement. Spent hours reloading games, chasing those little jerks.
- Crafting 100 things at the Blacksmith. Blew all my gold and mats. Felt like throwing the keyboard.
- The “All I See Is Blue” achievement for completing a whole Nephalem Rift wearing nothing but blue items. Had to farm crappy gear on purpose. Dumb.
Getting Smarter (Kinda)
Stopped being lazy. Looked up guides. Turns out, you can save time by:
- Abusing public games for split bounties to knock out those quicker.
- Joining seasonal events – some achievements just pop easier there.
- Swapping gear instantly for dumb ones like “Lone Survivor” by carrying gear in inventory. Almost too clever for me.
The Final Stretch
Worst part? “All Quests Completed”. Had to scour every Act, every zone for tiny side quests I’d ignored. One quest in Act 2 just wouldn’t trigger. Reloaded the damn map four times till it showed up. My coffee went cold. My cat judged me.
So… Was It Worth It?
Honestly? Nah. Took over three months of near-daily grind. Missed sleep. Annoyed my girlfriend. Got mad at pixels. But when that last achievement dinged? Popped open a beer. Felt weirdly proud. Would I tell others to do it? Absolutely not. Unless you love pain. But hey – if you’re gonna be stubborn like me, just focus on chunks, use guides early, and for God’s sake, learn to cheese the dumb ones.
