Okay so I just tried out the new Rathma build for Diablo 3 Season 29 yesterday. Man, this thing feels weirdly strong after the patches. Let me dump my whole run from scratch so you get the real deal.
Starting the Grind
First, I rolled a fresh Necromancer. Grabbed a random challenge rift cache – didn’t even wait for reset week, just needed mats ASAP. Dumped all shards on gloves at Kadala immediately. Why? ‘Cause Grasps of Essence are non-negotiable for exploding corpses. Took 800 shards but finally snagged ’em.
Meanwhile, slammed through campaign mode on Torment 1. Painful? Oh yeah. Ran with skeleton warriors and a single mage until 18. At 18, finally unlocked Command Skeletons and everything clicked. Spammed revive corpses like a maniac. By level 70, my inventory looked like garbage city but whatever.
Gear Chase Madness
Here’s where the real work kicked in:
- Saved every death’s breath for Circle of Nailuj’s Evol. Cubed junk rings for like an hour until it popped.
- Haunted Kanai’s Cube like my second home – upgraded rare scythes like crazy. Landed Reilena’s Shadowhook third try, almost screamed.
- Ran regular rifts non-stop gambling pants. Took 13 tries at Kadala before Depth Diggers dropped. Don’t ask about my bloodshard debt.
Put together the bare minimum build: Rathma full set, shadowhook, nailuj’s, and those damn explosive gloves. Slapped on Aughild’s pieces for shoulders/bracers because I had spare mats. Squeezed out Torment 8 somehow.
Gameplay Clusterfest
Followed this insane priority order:
- 1. Summon mages until eyeballs bleed
- 2. Find mob pile
- 3. Throw Command Skeletons on fattest enemy
- 4. Spam Corpse Explosion like trigger-happy toddler
- 5. Panic and run when cooldowns happen
Swear to god, I died 4 times figuring out how squishy this build is. Learned the hard way – NEVER face-tank anything. Keep mages at max stacks. Always have skellies tanking. Forget revives – used them as cannon fodder while repositioning.
Hiccups & Fixes
Ran into wild balancing issues:
- Ran out of essence constantly until I rolled resource cost reduction on gear.
- Kept insta-dying to ranged attacks until I swapped Zeis Stone for Esoteric Alteration.
- Realized corpse management sucks until I farmed an ancient Fate’s Vow for extra mage duration.
Final setup pushes GR85 consistently. Clears trash mobs like wet paper, deletes elites in 3 sec if cooldowns align. Feels janky as hell but melts faces. Still testing how high it goes before season ends.
Honestly? Zero chill minion builds never clicked for me. But seeing 15 skeletal mages vaporize bosses while I frantically dodge lasers? Weirdly addictive chaos.
