So yeah, stumbled across this quest for the Patriar’s Loss bow in Baldur’s Gate 3. Heard folks talkin’ about how good it was, tried finding it myself at first. Total nightmare, wasted hours just wanderin’ around like an idiot near the Lower City gates, figuring it had to be somewhere obvious. Wrong.
The Big Stumbling Block
Kept looking near Wyrm’s Rock Fortress, thinking maybe it was hidden off some beaten path. Searched every crate, kicked every skeleton. Found junk. Lots of junk. Started getting seriously annoyed. Where the heck was this thing hiding?
Actually Finding the Dang Thing
Finally got a tip, kinda by accident chatting to another player. Forget the fancy houses or the fort entrance. Head south from the Basilisk Gate waypoint. Way south, hugging the outer city wall. Almost feels like you’re going too far, like you’ve messed up.
- See that little guard tower built right into the wall? Ding ding ding!
- It’s kinda tucked away behind some rubble, easy to miss if you’re running past.
- Gotta climb up the ladder outside – super rickety thing, looks ready to collapse.
What’s Up Top? The Payoff!
Hauled myself up onto that roof, praying the ladder didn’t snap. Right there on a stone bench next to the crenellations – a dead body. Not just any body. Rummaged around in its pockets and bam! Patriar’s Loss, clear as day. Felt stupidly simple once I knew exactly where to climb. Couldn’t believe I’d walked past that spot maybe ten times before.
My Takeaway? Save Yourself the Headache
Forget searching the whole damn Lower City boundary. Forget the fancy districts. Make a beeline south from Basilisk Gate, stick close to that massive outer wall until you spot that guard tower. Climb the death-trap ladder, loot the corpse. Done. Seriously, after wasting all that time earlier, finding it took less than a minute once I knew where to point my character’s feet. Hope this saves someone else the frustration I went through!
