Okay folks, here’s the story of my first run-in with Primerem. Figured I’d jump right in like a genius, totally skipped the boring stuff. Yeah, big mistake.
Getting Started? Yeah, Thought So.
Downloaded the installer real quick, clicked ‘Next’ like a champ – ‘Agree’, ‘Agree’, ‘Install’. Done. Opened it up all proud, ready to conquer… and boom. Nothing looked right. Some weird errors popped up about paths. Like, what paths? sigh Shoulda looked closer.
Turns out, the default install location Primerem picks? Absolute garbage for me. It dumped stuff somewhere deep in the system folders, no permissions, pure chaos. Couldn’t save my config, couldn’t load basic stuff. Total facepalm moment.
Okay, Time to Actually Pay Attention
So I finally opened the docs. Actually looked at the system requirements section. Duh. My dumb mistakes were staring me right in the face:
- Slammed it onto my OS drive: Recipe for disaster, especially when that drive is almost full. Primerem needed breathing room I didn’t give it.
- Ignored the profile setup: Just clicked through. Created this useless generic profile that didn’t let me tweak anything important later. Locked myself out of settings I actually needed.
- Let it connect “Auto”: Bad idea. It picked some random network setting trying to be helpful, made connecting to my other devices a nightmare. Stuff just refused to talk.
Basically, I did everything they probably say “Don’t Do This” in big red letters somewhere. Oops.
Starting Over The Right Way (Hopefully)
Uninstalled the whole mess. Cleaned up whatever bits were left hiding.
- Checked my drives: Moved it to a different drive with tons of space. Installed it there. Permissions? Actually thought about it this time, made sure I had full control.
- Profile setup? Treated it like my life depended on it. Named it properly, actually filled in the fields (username, work type – the basic stuff I glossed over). Felt so boring, but man did it matter later.
- Network settings? Manual. All the way. Told Primerem exactly how to connect, didn’t let it guess. Took longer to type in the settings, sure, but zero headaches connecting after that.
The Big Difference
Opened it again. No weird errors. Settings menu actually had my profile! Could finally change stuff. Things connected like they should. Felt smooth. Took way longer than it should have, though. All because I was in a rush and figured “How hard could it be?”.
Moral of the story?
Don’t be like me. Take those extra five minutes at the start with Primerem. Check where it’s installing, pay attention to the profile setup, and do not trust the auto-network magic. Set it up yourself. Trust me, it saves hours of yelling at the screen later.
