Alright folks, grab a drink, ’cause I spent all weekend wrestling with this new Necro build everyone’s shouting about for Season 30. Wanted to share the whole messy journey, start to finish.
First thing Tuesday morning, I fired up Diablo 3, buzzing like usual at season start. Saw the hype train rolling hard for Necromancer builds, specifically this one topping all the tier lists right now. My old Season 29 setup? Dust. Time to dive in blind.
Foundations & False Starts
Okay, started simple: fresh level 70 Necro. Basic gear? Barely functional. Remembered I needed a specific set:
- Haunted Visions amulet (crucial!)
- The Masquerade of the Burning Carnival set pieces
- Krysbin’s Sentence ring
- And some ancient weapon that dropped for my Barbarian last week (ugh)
Piece by piece, shoved it all on. My damage? Pathetic. Felt like tickling demons in Torment IV. Embarrassing. Forgot to swap my Cube powers at first too. Doh!
The Great Rift Grind
Needed better gear. Badly. Spammed regular Rifts like a fiend. Key hoarding commenced:
- Blood Shards dumped repeatedly on Kadala for off-hands
- Killed the Bounty bosses multiple times – hate those roadblocks!
- Farmed Death’s Breath like my life depended on it for upgrades
Slow going. RNGesus wasn’t smiling. Got several trash legendaries before finally, finally, the correct scythe dropped after maybe 15 rifts. Almost punched the screen!
Refining the Relics & Nearly Quitting
Haunted Visions is the build’s engine. Found a primal one! …With garbage secondary stats. Nearly screamed. Spent ALL my Forgotten Souls rerolling that sucker like a gambler chasing losses. Finally landed acceptable Intelligence and Crit Chance. Good enough, bank’s empty.
Now, the playstyle felt clunky initially. Managing Bone Armor stacks AND Simulacrums AND Corpses AND Essence? Brain overload! Kept dying in stupid places. Got so frustrated yesterday I almost switched back to my Witch Doctor. Seriously.
The Sweet Spot
But I stubbornly kept pushing, tweaking my active skills. Found a rhythm:
- Pop Bone Armor & Simulacrums right away – boom, instant army.
- Bind Devour to mouse wheel – easy health & essence (total cheat).
- Drop Land of the Dead ONLY when swarmed (feels epic!).
Suddenly, demons started EXPLODING. Cleared a GR105 solo without sweating much. Damage numbers? Silly big. Survivability? Way better once the stacks stabilized. That feeling when it clicked? Chefs kiss.
Final Checks & Living the List Life
Took the finished build, gems leveled decently, and slammed it against the updated tier list everyone’s referencing right now. Hits solid S-Tier single-target. Melts Rift Guardians in seconds. AoE is messy but devastating. Definitely needs specific gear to function (no winging it!), but once it’s assembled? Oof. Powerful stuff. Currently speed-farming GR90s to gear my alts. The grind paid off.
Would I recommend it? Yeah, if you like managing five plates spinning at once and seeing bosses vanish. But be ready for an item hunt and muscle memory retraining. Learned that the hard way!
