Alright so season 7 dropped and I figured, hey why not roll solo this time? Wanted to see if I could farm decent loot without sweating like crazy. Let me walk you through the mess I made trying this out.
Starting from Scratch
First things first, gotta pick a class. Went with a Lightning Fury Amazon ’cause I heard she clears packs fast. No fancy gear, just some random junk I found running through Act 1 Normal. Took forever hitting stuff with a white javelin early on, felt like poking zombies with a toothpick. But hey, slowly pushed through.
The Real Grind Begins
Once I hit Nightmare difficulty, that’s when the real pain started. Monsters hit harder, my resists sucked, and finding upgrades was rough. Did loads of Countess runs – like, hundreds – hoping for some mid-tier runes. Mostly got crappy Els and Tirs though. Seriously, got stacks of those things collecting digital dust.
Then I remembered Mephisto runs. Teleported straight to him with my sorc buddy’s help (cheated a bit, yeah whatever). Smashed his face for days with my merc tanking. Got piles of green and gold stuff… but most of it sucked. Like, unique Quilted Armor? Who even uses that? But hey, found a Nagelring! Baby steps.
Target Farming Setup
Switched targets later on when I finally made it to Hell. Found a decent 4-socket polearm for my Insight merc – thank god for that mana regen. Farmed these spots on repeat:
- Pindleskin – Quick kills near the portal
- Ancient Tunnels – Cold immune? Not here, buddy
- Mausoleum – Easy monsters, good drops early Hell
Ran with whatever Magic Find gear I scavenged. Couldn’t find that darn Shako forever. Got a Tal Rasha helmet though, slapped a Perfect Topaz in it and called it a day. Patched up my resists with charms – those small ones pile up quick.
The Breakthrough
Took me like a solid week, no joke. Finally landed an Um rune from a Hell Forge quest. That thing felt like winning the dang lottery. Turned it into a Duress armor for my merc using a random Eth wire fleece I’d been hoarding. Suddenly he stopped dying every five seconds! Could actually farm Countess properly then – got a Mal later, made a cheap CTA for extra life.
The trick? Spam quick, easy targets. Skip elites if they look nasty. Don’t waste time full-clearing zones unless you’re desperate. Used Teleport charges on a staff swap just to zip past junk mobs. Felt dirty but worked.
Ended the season with a decent Lightning Fury setup. Never did find a Griffon’s Eye though. Stupid loot tables. But yeah, solo play’s rough but doable if you stick to boring, repetitive farming. Not glamorous, just how Diablo 2 works sometimes.
