My BG3 Crash Fix Adventure
Booted up Baldur’s Gate 3 after work, super excited to see what happens next in my chaotic campaign. Clicked the launcher… game starts loading… BAM. Desktop. No warning, no error message, nothing. Just straight up kicked me out. What gives?
Cracked open my browser, frantically typing “baldur’s gate 3 crash on startup reddit” like a madman. Scrolled through a million posts – people arguing about mods, drivers, DirectX, you name it. My head was spinning. Saw one comment buried deep talking about Steam verifying files. Figured, heck, worth a shot. Worst case, I waste five minutes.
Opened Steam, went straight to my Library. Right-clicked Baldur’s Gate 3, hit “Properties.” Clicked that “Installed Files” tab. Spotted the button: “Verify integrity of game files…” Slapped that button without thinking twice.
Steam started doing its thing. Little progress bar crawling along. Made myself coffee just to have something to do while staring at it. Took a few minutes honestly. Felt longer ’cause I was nervous. Steam finally finished checking. Said it found some stuff missing! Said it fixed 11 files. Eleven! No wonder it crashed.
Took a deep breath. Double-clicked the game icon again. Launcher popped up. Clicked “Play.” Held my breath watching the loading screen… Boom. Main menu loaded perfectly. My saves were all there grinning at me. Hit “Continue” faster than I ever clicked anything. Game popped into my latest save like nothing ever happened.
Seriously, that “Verify” button in Steam? Lifesaver. Worked like magic. Saved my night. Go try it if BG3 is crashing on you. Might just be that easy.
