When I heard about this legendary hammer called the Dwarf Thrower in BG3, I figured it’d be perfect for my grumpy dwarf barbarian. So I grabbed some health potions and decided to track it down myself.
Starting the Hunt in Act 3
First thing you gotta know – this hammer doesn’t show up until you reach Act 3 in Baldur’s Gate city. I wasted hours running around the Underdark earlier like an idiot before realizing it’s late-game gear.
Finding the Right Vendor
I started checking every blacksmith and merchant in the city. Tried Figaro’s place in the Lower City, no luck. The armor vendor near Sorcerous Sundries? Nope. Finally hit up Portyr’s Armory – that bigass weapon shop near Basilisk Gate waypoint.
The grumpy dwarf blacksmith inside named Len glared at me like I stole his lunch. Scrolled through his inventory slowly and boom – spotted Nyrulna first (weird trident thing), then right under it sat the Dwarf Thrower! Costs 1066 gold, which is steep but manageable.
What Makes It Special
- Instantly flies back to your hand after throwing it
- Does extra thunder damage that knocks enemies back
- Literally yeets dwarves across the battlefield (tested on my buddy’s character)
Took my party right outside to test it near the harbor. Chucked it at a stray cat first (felt bad, reloaded), then at some Sharrans. Watching enemies ragdoll after getting smacked never gets old!
Key Things to Remember
- Vendor stock updates every long rest if he’s out
- Bring gold or valuables to barter
- Pickpocketing Len works but his DC is brutal (save scum advised)
Spent the rest of that session chucking hammers like Thor with anger issues. Finding it took longer than expected, but that sweet YEET mechanic made it 100% worth the hassle!
