Alright so here’s how my hunt for those special Easter egg seeds went down last week. Was dead set on growing some colorful “Easter Egg Radishes” for the kids’ garden project.
First Stop: The Usual Big Box Store
Dragged my tired self to the nearest huge gardening store after work. Thought for sure they’d have ’em. Wandered every aisle twice – nada. Just boring regular radish seeds. Asked some dude in a green vest, he just shrugged and mumbled “seasonal.” Waste of time.
Switching to Online Digging
Next night, parked my butt on the couch with coffee and my laptop. Searched “buy easter egg radish seeds” on my favorite search engine. Got massively confused:
- Tons of sites called ’em “Easter Egg Radishes,” “Easter Egg Blend,” even “Rainbow Radishes” – same thing?
- Price? Crazy range. $2.99 one place, $8.50 another! For seeds!
- Saw tons of cheap listings, smelled fake reviews a mile away. Sketchy.
Local Surprise – The Tiny Garden Shop
Was grumping about this at the coffee shop next morning. Barista overheard and goes, “Try Penny’s Pots? She’s got weird seeds sometimes.” Drove straight there. Tiny place, plants everywhere. Owner lady Penny knew exactly what I meant!
She dug under the counter and pulled out dusty seed trays. “These?” Yep! “Easter Egg II Radish Blend” – perfect! Only $4.25 a pack. Snagged two. Chatted about soil tips. Felt great supporting a small shop.
Final Tally & Lesson Learned
So where did I score Easter egg seeds in the end?
- Big stores: Strike out.
- Online mess: Too risky & confusing.
- Hidden local gem: Win!
Should’ve skipped the big store headache and asked folks like Penny first. Those babies are sprouting in peat pots on my windowsill right now. Kids check ’em twice a day. Worth every minute chasing ’em down.
