How I Started the Hunt
So, I was playing Baldur’s Gate 3 last night, grinding for gear upgrades, when my character needed purple fluorite shards. Heard they’re super rare and expensive, so I decided to figure out who sells them without getting scammed. Grabbed my coffee and jumped back in.
My Step-by-Step Search
First, I headed straight to the main market area in the game city. Talked to that rich vendor dude near the fountain—he had some purple shards but wanted a crazy price, like 500 gold per piece. Felt like robbery, so I noped out.
Then, I wandered over to the shady part of town. Found an old lady vendor with a cart full of minerals. She had the shards too, but her price was still high at 450 gold. Asked around other NPCs, and one hinted about a hidden camp in the woods. Hiked out there, almost got jumped by bandits, but stumbled on a gnome trader under a tree.
Compared prices right then:
- Market vendor: 500 gold per shard
- Old lady: 450 gold
- Gnome trader: 300 gold—way better deal
Didn’t stop there. Dug through my in-game notes and found another spot near a cave entrance. Met a rough-looking miner selling shards for 320 gold. Not bad, but the gnome still won out.
The Final Scoop
Ended up buying a bunch from the gnome. Got my upgrade done quick and saved a ton of gold. Why trust this? Last month, I got totally ripped off in another game by some overpriced gear dealer—paid double for trash items. This time, I made sure to do the legwork and nailed it.
